I Love to See the Temple

Since her endowment in June, Rachael has spent a great deal of time in various temples. She's been many times with Papa to the Mount Timpanogos Temple. They would often end their visit with lunch in the temple cafeteria. We traveled to the St. George Temple for Amanda's endowment and the Manti Temple for her sealing. We went with Jakob to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple as he performed baptisms for the first time and Rachael attended the Salt Lake Temple with friends. So, we decided to take a temple trip towards the end of September to Logan, Brigham City, Ogden and Bountiful. We made it to three out of the four.

Initially we drove to the Logan Temple, performed sealings (Rachael's first time) and then spent some time in the Celestial room.  While in the temple, I was mistaken by the sealing coordinator for Rachael's sister or sister-in-law which made my day. I told them I was going to have to come there more often. The temple workers and patrons were genuinely excited for Rachael and her mission. We ate a delicious lunch at Angie's, a local favorite. The hash browns and tater tots were crisp perfection while the scone and honey butter were to die for.... We bought some pumpkin chocolate chip bread from the Utah Grist Mill and then headed down the canyon.

We drove back through the beautiful fall, colored canyon and walked right in to the Brigham City Temple to perform initiatories. Of course, we had to stop at Maddox to honor Grandma. She and Papa loved to eat at Maddox. We ate peach pie in her honor and added Snickers pie for good measure. When we sat down at the table, we both looked at the menu and then at each other. On the front it said the words "Lest We Forget." This was the theme of our 2012 family reunion. I immediately felt like crying and knew that Mom was with us today. This was her way of telling us! I told Rachael while at Maddox that dad and I had decided to pay for everything we had purchased for her mission. There were tears! Rachael has saved enough money to cover all of her mission expenses.

We then drove the scenic route down to Ogden and participated in an endowment session. We had not been able to attend the Ogden Open House and saw this temple for the first temple. It is absolutely gorgeous!!! By the time we were out of the Ogden Temple it was too late to make it to the Bountiful Temple. Rachael has been to every temple in Utah with the exception of Bountiful, Jordan River, Monticello, and Vernal. Heavenly Father's love for us was continually reinforced to me as we were loved so thoroughly in each of the temples we visited today! The temple workers were so grateful we had come. Rachael's hug was the perfect end to the perfect day!
